If you have concerns about your child’s functioning in school and questions about whether they qualify for special education services, you are legally entitled to request an assessment through your school district at no cost to you.
In the school district, your child’s team is restricted to looking at their eligibility for special education services using only one of 13 criteria from the California Education Code. Your child’s team can provide you with helpful information on their academic functioning, but can’t provide a DSM-V-TR diagnosis or look at their support needs at home.
With a private assessment, I am able to provide a DSM-V-TR diagnosis (if appropriate) and give you a more holistic picture of how to support your child’s functioning across all settings. I will also share recommendations about whether your child should be evaluated by their school district, and what eligibility areas the school district might examine.

All of my assessments cost a flat rate that takes into account assessment tools/strategies used; hours necessary to complete the testing activities; written report of information; and consultation with caregiver(s), child, or adult client.
Currently, a full assessment is between $3,100-$3,500. This cost can vary depending on the complexity of your case and the referral questions.
A good faith estimate for your assessment will be provided to you after our first consultation, prior to scheduling our first appointment.

You pay a $200, non-refundable deposit to schedule our intake interview. After that, half of your remaining assessment fee is due at the time of our first testing session. The other half of your fee is due at the time of our final feedback session.

The length of time that it takes to complete an assessment varies and depends on factors like the client’s age, the areas being assessed, and availability of client and assessor.
Direct testing is typically completed over 2-4 sessions lasting at least 90-120 minutes each. Testing sessions are usually held over 2-3 weeks.
Once we have completed our testing sessions, it typically takes me 4-6 weeks to write your assessment report.
Since we are working together to create a comprehensive, holistic assessment for you or your child, this process can take some time! Typically a full assessment will be completed within 3-4 months.
-
I require 24-hour notice for cancellation of a session. Late cancellation will impact the scheduling of future testing sessions and will delay completion of the assessment.
If more than one appointment is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, this may lead to termination of our assessment agreement.
